1 Who we are and what this policy covers

hiAnneke (the "service") is a personal AI companion that people talk to through Telegram. At Anneke Nel ["we," "us," or "our"], accessible via annekenel.com. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you visit our website, interact with our official social media channels, or purchase our digital products/service.

This policy covers:

  • www.annekenel.com and any subdomain or funnel page we use to explain hiAnneke, take sign-ups and process subscriptions;
  • the hiAnneke chat on Telegram, including the messages you send, the replies, voice notes and the nightly analysis that the service produces for you;

Telegram's own apps and infrastructure are governed by Telegram's privacy policy, not this one. We do not control Telegram, and parts of what Telegram does with your account happen independently of us.

Questions, requests and complaints: connect@annekenel.com.

2 The short version

  • We collect what is needed to run a companion service: your email and subscription status, your Telegram identity, the messages and voice notes you send, and a short profile of you that the service writes for itself so it can remember you.
  • We never sell your data and never use it to show you advertising.
  • No human reads your conversations in normal operation. A human will read a specific conversation only if you ask us to, if we have a genuine reason to believe someone's life or safety is at risk, or if the law requires it.
  • We process your messages with your explicit consent, because what people vent about can reveal sensitive things about them. You can withdraw that consent at any time by closing your account and asking us to delete your data.
  • Your content stays until you delete it. You can delete individual chats in the Telegram app at any time, and you can ask us to erase everything about you.
  • Your data is processed by a small set of named service providers (Our automation, AI, checkout and database providers).

3 What we collect

3.1 When you sign up and pay (website and checkout)

  • Account details: your email address, your first name if you give one, your country/currency where the checkout collects it, and the date you subscribed.
  • Subscription state: which plan you are on, the amount, the billing interval, renewal dates, payment status, cancellations and refunds. This is held by our checkout provider and mirrored to us.
  • Payment data: card or payment-method details are entered on the payment provider's own form and are never seen or stored by us. We receive only a token, the last digits, and whether a charge succeeded.
  • Marketing source: if you arrive through a link with a campaign tag, we may record which campaign or reel sent you. We do not receive your identity from social networks.

3.2 Your Telegram identity

  • Your Telegram user ID (a number), your username if you have one, your display name, and your phone number only if you have chosen to share it with the account you contact (most people do not).
  • The technical identifiers Telegram gives us for your connection, so the service can reply from the right place.
  • Whether you have connected or disconnected the chat with hiAnneke, and the time of your last activity.

We do not collect your contacts, your other Telegram chats, your location, or your Telegram password.

3.3 Your conversations

  • Messages you send
  • Voice notes you send
  • What we send back
  • Service messages

3.4 Service and safety data

  • Activity timestamps used to decide when to send a reminder, whether a window is open, and whether you have asked us to pause.
  • A small number of internal flags (for example, the number of times you have changed your timezone, or whether a message failed to deliver) used to keep the service working and to prevent abuse.
  • Technical logs from our automation platform, including error messages, kept for troubleshooting.

3.5 The website

Our website uses no advertising trackers. We use Meta's tracking pixel, which records aggregate page views without cookies and without building a profile of you, and we keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, time) for security and for keeping the site up.

4 Sensitive information and third parties

What you tell us is your choice. People use hiAnneke to talk about hard things. That means your messages may reveal information that the law treats as specially protected, for example about your health, your mental state, your sex life, your religion or your political views. We do not ask for any of it, we do not require it, and we do not use it for any purpose other than the service itself. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you accept our Terms of Service and start chatting, and which you may withdraw at any time by asking us to delete your data and closing your account.

Please do not send us other people's information. If you tell us about someone else, keep it to what is necessary, and do not send their full names, contact details, medical records or anything else that could identify them. You are responsible for having the right to share what you send.

Extremely sensitive documents. Please do not send identity documents, bank details, passwords or medical files. We do not need them and cannot protect them properly.

5 Why we use it, and our legal bases

We do not use your conversations to train our own AI models, and we do not license them to anyone. Some of our providers may process data for their own service security and legal compliance, and some may use it to improve their own models.

6 AI processing: what the machine does

  • Understanding and writing. Your messages are processed by a large language model to understand what you said and to write replies. and the nightly analysis.
  • Voice. Audible LLM technology is used to generate daily voice notes through our voice model provider's API to render in hiAnneke's signature voice. Your own text is not used to clone your voice.
  • Automated processing. The service decides things like when to send a reminder or when a window is open. These are product mechanics, not decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you, and there is no automatic profiling for marketing, credit, insurance or employment purposes.
  • No human in the loop, with four exceptions. No human reads your conversations as part of day-to-day operation. A human may access a specific conversation only if (a) you ask our support to look into it, (b) we have a good-faith belief that there is a serious risk to your life or safety or someone else's, (c) we must investigate abuse, fraud or a security incident that affects the service, or (d) the law requires it. Access is limited to the person who needs it.
  • AI is not always right. Replies and analyses can be inaccurate, incomplete or strange.

7 Who else sees your data

We use a small set of companies to run the service. Each one is a processor acting on our instructions, under contract, and each is bound to protect what it handles. Here is exactly what each of them sees.

We may disclose data only when we have to: to comply with a lawful request, court order or legal obligation; to establish or defend legal claims; to investigate fraud or abuse; or to protect the rights and safety of a member or the public. Where we are permitted to tell you about such a request, we will.

We never sell your personal data, we do not share it with data brokers, advertisers or list vendors, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If the business is ever sold or reorganised, your data may transfer to the buyer as part of the service; we would tell you first and this policy would continue to apply until changed.

8 Where your data goes (international transfers)

We are based in Switzerland, and several of our providers are in the United States. Our main service provide Telegram's, infrastructure is global.

When personal data leaves Switzerland or the EEA, we rely on the safeguards the law provides: the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension where the provider is certified, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with a transfer impact assessment, in each case under the provider's contractual commitments. You can ask us at support for a summary of the safeguards that apply to a specific provider.

9 How long we keep it

  • Your conversations, voice notes, analysis and profile: kept while your account is active, and until you delete them. You can delete individual conversations in Telegram at any time. Deleting a conversation removes your copy and Telegram's copy for your account; if you want our stored records gone, email us.
  • When you ask us to delete: we erase the messages, the analysis and your profile from our live systems promptly and confirm by email. A minimal record (your email address, the fact and date of the request, and the billing history) may be kept where we must, as described below.
  • Billing and tax records: kept for the period Swiss bookkeeping law requires (currently up to 10 years), containing only what an invoice must show.
  • Abuse, fraud and safety records: kept up to 12 months after an account closes, so that someone who was removed for abuse cannot simply return.
  • Backups: deleted content can persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
  • Server logs: our website and automation logs are kept for up to 90 days.

10 How we protect it

Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) everywhere; access to our database and automation restricted to a small number of accounts with strong authentication; API keys and tokens stored as secrets and rotated; the least data possible stored in the first place. No system is perfect and Telegram is a third party we do not control. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the competent authority as the law requires.

11 Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU/UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy;
  • correct anything wrong;
  • delete your data (subject to what we must keep by law);
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format, and have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we lawfully did before;
  • not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects, we do not make any such decision about you, and section 6 explains what is automated;

12 Age limit

hiAnneke is for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we do not offer the service to minors. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the data. If you believe a minor is using the service, write to us here.

13 Cookies and the website

Essential cookies only. Our website needs a small number of cookies/storage entries to keep you logged in to the checkout and to remember your cart; these are necessary to deliver what you asked for and cannot be switched off from the page.

Analytics. We use Meta's tracking pixel, to track native website events (how you interact with our website). This may be used for remarketing purposes whenever we need to.

External links. Our pages may link to Telegram, social networks and payment pages. Once you follow such a link, owned by us this privacy policy applies.

14 Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the service or the law changes, and the version block at the top will always show the current date. If a change materially affects what we do with your data, we will tell you by email or in the chat at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can close your account before then if you disagree. Continuing to use hiAnneke after that date means you accept the updated policy.
